CHN Energy Changyuan Electric Power Co. Ltd., a listed firm of China Energy Investment Corporation (CHN Energy), generated 2.36 TWh of electricity in April, rising 11.12% year on year (YoY), the company said in an announcement on May 7.
Among this, thermal power generation, mainly coal-fired, increased 5.22% YoY; hydropower output surged 83.73% YoY; new energy generation grew 26.06% YoY.
In the first four months, the company's electricity output totaled 11.95 TWh, up 9.69% YoY, with thermal and hydropower generation up 4.69% and 117.42% YoY, respectively. Electricity production from new energy soared 61.72% YoY, with photovoltaic power generation jumping 130.42% YoY.
Additionally, the company earned a net profit attributable to shareholders of 250 million yuan ($34.6 million) in the first quarter of this year, up 12.95% YoY, according to its quarterly report.
It achieved a total operating revenue of 4.22 billion yuan, a 7.66% rise YoY. The adjusted net profit amounted to 244 million yuan, up 11.30% YoY. Basic earnings per share stood at 0.091 yuan during the reporting period, and the weighted average return on equity was 2.48%.
